Helen Troy King Dear
Helen Troy King Dear, 87, entered into eternal rest on Wed., Oct. 6, 2021. She was the widow of late Marsene Dear, Sr. Mrs. Dear was born in Greenville, NC on Aug. 8, 1934, to the late James Arthur King and Martha Henryhan Hawkins. Helen majored in Early Childhood Education and graduated from South Central Community College, University of Massachusetts, Eastern Connecticut State University, and received her Sixth Year Degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Mrs. Dear was a devoted educator for New Haven Board of Education for over 20 years, retiring in 1997. In retirement, she continued her ownership and teaching at Henryhan Inc. Dear Day Care until 2004. Helen was a devoted Christian and a proud member of Mount Zion Seventh-Day Adventist Church since 1961.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Marsene
Dear Jr. (Sharon), Eric U. Dear, Kelvin L. Dear, Sr. (Michelle), Jonathan K. Dear Sr.; daughters, Geiselle M. Dear and Pamela T. DearCunningham (Marvin); 10 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; one sister, Peggy K. Jones; and several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Reginald B. Dear; and sister Jean K. Willoughby.
A celebration of Helen’s life will take place on Fri., Oct. 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Zion SeventhDay Adventist Church, 64 Marlboro St., Hamden, CT. The viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. Services by Howard K.
