‘Hocus Pocus’-themed drag show, with ‘Drag Race’ star, to put a spell on Norwalk

- By Andrew DaRosa

It won’t be “all just a bunch of hocus pocus” when Norwalk’s Troupe429 hosts its Hocus Pocus-themed drag show, “Witch Perfect,” on Sunday, Oct. 24.

“Witch Perfect” will be making its Norwalk debut after previously being held in New York City.

The centerpiece of the seasonal show is “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star Tina Burner, who will be taking over the role of Winifred Sanderson, who was portrayed by Bette Midler in the 1993 movie. Rounding out the Sanderson sisters are New York City drag queens Tammy Spanx as Mary Sanderson and Bootsie Lefaris as Sarah Sanderson, who were portrayed by Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker, respectively.

Composer Blake Allen will act as musical director for the program and will oversee the queens throughout the live musical re-interpretation of the Disney classic.

Guests can expect to hear songs from the movie as well as Cher, Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion classics.

The Glam Awards-winning cabaret show will stage three performances conducted throughout the day at 3 p.m., 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tickets are currently sold out. No tickets will be available at the door.

For those wanting to travel to catch the show, tickets are still available for the “Witch Perfect” shows at The Q in New York City on Oct. 19 and 26.
