GUILFORD — A West

Haven man was arrested

Wednesday in connection with the death of a 42-yearold Guilford woman in July, according to police.

Robert Faison, 45, of Campbell Avenue is charged with murder, police said in an email.

Police and firefighters responded to 61 Mohawk Trail July 22, finding the woman, later identified as Lindsey Hopkins, “suffering from obvious injuries,” police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined the cause

of death was blunt force trauma, and ruled her death a homicide.

Faison, Hopkins’ husband, was “identified as a suspect” and, after being found in New York City, arrested on an outstanding violation of probation warrant July 30, police said.

Guilford police, along with a series of law enforcement agencies, “developed facts and evidence linking Faison to this crime and secured an arrest warrant for him,” police said. .

Faison was held in lieu of $2 million bail, police said.

According to her obituary, Hopkins “had a huge caring heart. She loved to make people laugh and was always helping others in any way she could. Last year, during the pandemic, she made face masks for those who needed them.”

She was the daughter of Catharine W. Hopkins of Madison and the late Douglas B. Hopkins, according to the obituary, and is survived by her daughter, Emilie M. Albert of North Branford, her brother, Walker R. Hopkins of Madison, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
