Man charged in connection with double-shooting
HAMDEN — A town man recently was arrested and charged in connection with a double-shooting on Dixwell Avenue in May, according to police.
Michael Wooten, 23, is charged with criminal attempt to commit first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment and illegal discharge of a firearm, Detective Sean Dolan said in an email.
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Dixwell Avenue for a report of shots fired soon after midnight May 15, Dolan said, finding two wounded individuals.
“Officers located a 20year-old New Haven resident in the vicinity of Dixwell Avenue and Pershing Street. She was suffering from a gunshot wound to her chest. A second victim, a 22-year-old Hamden resident, was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his buttocks, hand and pelvis,” said Dolan.
Both wounded individuals were hospitalized and treated for “serious” injuries, Dolan said.
Detective Jomo Crawford, along with the New Haven Shooting Task Force, has investigated the case to date, Dolan said. The investigation remains ongoing.
Dolan asked anyone with information to contact Detective Crawford at 203-2304048.
