CLINTON — With the start of the traditional holiday shopping season about a month away, Clinton Premium Outlets has added five new stores and expects to have a sixth retailer open in time for Thanksgiving, a spokeswoman for the outlet center’s owner said Wednesday.

Clothing retailer Vineyard Vines, outdoor wear store Columbia Factory Store, footwear retailer

Ugg, luxury fashion brand Hugo Boss and fragrance outlet Perfume Gallery all have opened in the past several months. The first three retailers have been opened since Labor Day, according to Kathleen Mones, area director of marketing and business development for Indianapolis, Ind.-based Simon Properties, which owns the Clinton retail center.

Mones said intimate apparel and lifestyle brands retailer Aerie will open at Clinton Premium Outlets around Nov. 20.

“We have a lot of new brands that customers have told us they are looking for,” she said.

The Hugo Boss store is the retailer’s first in Connecticut, Mones said. Clinton Premium Outlets is also the only Connecticut location for the Columbia Factory Store.

The Clinton location is Vineyard Vines’ sixth Connecticut store. Its others are in Greenwich, New Canaan, Westport, West Hartford and in the Tanger Outlet Center at Foxwoods Resort Casino.

Ugg footwear is sold in a variety of shoe retailers, but Clinton is the brand’s second factory outlet store after the Tanger Outlet Center at Foxwoods. The Clinton location of Perfume Gallery is the retailer’s third in Connecticut after stores in the Danbury Fair and Westfarms malls.

Burt Flickinger, managing director of New York City-based Strategic Resource Group, said that to keep shoppers interested in what retail centers have to offer, “it’s important to have a major refresh of the lineup every three to five years.”

“If they can upgrade from retailers that have closed to more popular outlets, that’s even better,” Flickinger said.
