Driver shortage forces ‘community stops’ for tech school students

- By Donald Eng

SEYMOUR — Town students that attend either Platt Technical High School in Milford or Emmett O’Brien Technical High in Ansonia are being picked up from community bus stops this week due to what the Seymour Public Schools have termed a “severe bus driver shortage.”

According to an alert posted on the Seymour schools website the community stops will continue until the driver pool returns to normal levels.

It is not clear how long that will take. The alert did not give a reason for the driver shortage.

“We realize this is not an ideal situation but at this time it is our only option to getting the students back and forth to their out-of-district schools,” the alert read. “We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
