Police seek witnesses to serious collision
NORTH HAVEN — Officers are seeking witnesses to a major collision that left a motorcyclist with lifethreatening injuries Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
At about 1:35 p.m., the town’s 911 center got multiple calls of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in the area of 178 State
St., Police Chief Kevin
Glenn said.
Arriving officers started treating injured individuals, including applying a tourniquet to the motorcyclist, Glenn said. The motorcycle driver, a 70-year-old Hamden
man, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 75-year-old Hamden man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
As police investigated and clear the crash site, State Street was shut down between Divine Street and 100 State St. until about 6 p.m.
