Police seek witnesses to serious collision

NORTH HAVEN — Officers are seeking witnesses to a major collision that left a motorcycli­st with lifethreat­ening injuries Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

At about 1:35 p.m., the town’s 911 center got multiple calls of a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in the area of 178 State

Arriving officers started treating injured individual­s, including applying a tourniquet to the motorcycli­st, Glenn said. The motorcycle driver, a 70-year-old Hamden

man, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries.

The driver of the car, a 75-year-old Hamden man, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatenin­g injuries.

There were no other occupants in either vehicle.

As police investigat­ed and clear the crash site, State Street was shut down between Divine Street and 100 State St. until about 6 p.m.
