Birgitta “Gita” Magnotti, 85, of Sweden, passed away peacefully on January

10, 2021. Born in Sweden on February 15, 1935, the daughter of Per and Ingeborg Fohlin, sister of Marika Fohlin and Lars (Agneta) Fohlin. She moved to the United States at the age of 23. There she met and married her soulmate, Peter “Duke” Magnotti. They settled down and raised their family in New Haven, CT. Throughout her life, she worked several jobs including modeling for Saab Motors, she worked briefly at The American Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, A+B Travel Agency, New Haven Savings Bank and finally Connecticut Savings Bank. Her dream was to retire in Sweden and after 32 years in the states, she did just that. Birgitta loved gardening, dancing, entertaining and most of all cooking. Her meals were unforgettable! Gita was a true people person, making friends everywhere she went – a stunning, beautiful person both inside and out. She exuded class and style and improved everything she touched. She was a cherished mother, beloved grandmother and great grandmother, and great friend to so many – a true treasure! Her family meant the world to her and she meant even more to them. Her strength of character shined so bright within her. She will be remembered by all for her wit and charm but most of all for her kind smile and selfless ways. Her passing truly marks the end of an era; an era now gone with the wind. She was predeceased by her husband Peter “Duke” Magnotti and her son Jonas Magnotti. She leaves behind her daughter Noelle (Joseph) Meyer and their daughters Corrinne and Aubrey, her granddaughter Courtney Magnotti and great-grandson Michael Barretta, Jr.
