Joan M. Foley

Joan Manning Foley passed away peacefully at her home on December 19th, 2021 with her family by her side. Joan was the wife of Cornelius “Connie” Foley, in which they shared 58 incredible years together. They have 5 children, Con (Staci), Johanna (Jeff) Kevin, Maureen, and Sean (Meri). Her pride and joy were her beloved 12 grandchildren, Meaghan, Dillon, Siobhan, Amelia, Cole, Grant, Jarrod, Delilah, Kyle, Scarlett, Julia, and Pearl, who will miss her kind spirit and guidance. She was a friend to all, especially her sister-in-law Margaret.

Joan was born in New Haven on January 8th, 1943. She was the daughter of the late Christopher and Eileen O’Keefe Manning. She grew up with her 8 siblings, Mary, Billy (predeceased), Eileen, Kathleen, Bett, Rita, Chris and Sheila. She graduated from Hill House High School in 1961. Joan was a nurse for over 20 years, in which she provided exceptional care to her patients.

Joan was very involved with her children and the sports that they participated in. She spent countless hours volunteering her time to the Hamden Heronettes, of which both of her daughters were dedicated members. Joan loved to travel and was always up for a trip, especially to Ireland, which she did often with her husband and family. She considered Dingle, Ireland her second home. She was a longtime member of the Irish American Club, where Céilí Dancing became her passion. She loved a good sing song and will truly be missed by all.

A mass will be held for Joan at 11:00 a.m. on January 8th at Divine Mercy-St. Rita Parish in Hamden. A reception at The Irish American Club in East Haven will immediately follow. To send condolences to her family, please see obituary at www. beecherandbennett.com.
