Huskies’ matchup vs. Butler canceled

- By Maggie Vanoni

The UConn women’s basketball game against Butler has been canceled due to winter weatherrelated travel issues on the Bulldogs’ end, UConn announced Friday morning.

The game was scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion.

UConn’s next game is scheduled for Sunday at noon against No. 7 Tennessee at the XL Center. Fans who had tickets to Friday’s game against Butler can exchange their tickets for upper-level seats at UConn’s game against the Lady Vols.

To exchange tickets Sunday, fans should bring the original Butler tickets to the XL Center box office beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. UConn said in a release that Butler tickets will be exchanged for upper-level tickets regardless of original ticket value, while supplies last.

UConn said those who purchased a three-game mini-plan or single-game ticket to the Butler game can utilize their same game tickets for any rescheduled game. If the game is not rescheduled, purchasers can select from available tickets to another home game.

Season-ticket holders will retain access to their seats for any rescheduled contest. If the Butler game is not rescheduled, UConn will credit the account of a season-ticket holder at the conclusion of the season.

Fans can manage their tickets through their account at UConnTickets.com. The UConn ticket office can be reached via email (athtickets@uconn.edu) or by calling 1-877-AT-UCONN.

The Huskies (14-4, 9-0) previously faced Butler in Indianapolis on Jan. 12, defeating the Bulldogs 92-47 behind 19 points each from Olivia Nelson-Ododa and Christyn Williams.

UConn’s Sunday game against

the Lady Vols will be its final nonconference matchup of the season. Tennessee (19-3, 8-2 SEC) was upset by unranked Florida on Thursday night, falling

84-59 in Gainesville. The Lady Vols have lost to unranked teams in two of their past three games (previously losing to Auburn 71-61 on Jan. 27).

The Huskies will resume Big East play Wednesday against Villanova (7 p.m. XL Center).

UConn coach Geno Auriemma was expected to be on the bench for Friday night’s game after missing the game Wednesday at Creighton because he was not feeling well.

UConn previously had four games postponed because of COVID-19 (Marquette,

DePaul, Georgetown, and Villanova). The game against DePaul was rescheduled and played last week in Chicago after UConn’s game at South Carolina was canceled.
