Boys to watch: Dillon Luke (Xavier) long jump, 55 hurdles; Gary Moore Jr. (Hillhouse) shot put; Colin Brown (Cheshire) 55 dash; Eamon Burke (Xavier) 1000 and 3200; 600 could be most exciting event of day with Chase Vitale (Xavier, 1:27.53), Ralphael Hawkins (Hillhouse, 1:27.86), Basit Iddriss (Foran, 1:28.30) and Wayne Tolson III (Wilbur Cross, 1:28.66); Jacob Seamons (Lyman Hall) and Zyair Wali (Hillhouse) have both cleared 6-0 in high jump this season; pole vault has six boys who have cleared 11-6 this season; top seed Nikita Omelchenko (Wilbur Cross) and second seed Mason Beaudette (Amity) 1600; 300 is another event with a deep field led by top seed Ralphael Hawkins.
Girls to watch: Audrey Kozak (Shelton) 55 dash, second seed long jump and co-top seed with Ne’ria Townsend (Hillhouse) in high jump; Erin Brennan (Sheehan) top seed in long jump and also in pole vault with 10-8 this season (SCC pole vault meet record is 10-6); Caden Simpson (Law) 55 hurdles; Amanda Castaldi (Sheehan) second seed in 55 hurdles and 55 dash; Tess Wasiolek (Branford) 1000; Alexandra Epright (Mercy, 1:44.25) and second seed Leah Farrell (Cheshire, 1:44.42) headline the 600; Olivia O’Connor (Hillhouse) shot put; Anna Omelchenko (Wilbur Cross) 1600; Avery Winters (Sheehan) 300; three strong distance runners in 3200 are Adriana Franzese (Shelton), Kelly Jones (Lauranlton Hall) and Anna Omelchenko.
