Joseph “Jack” Lanzieri passed away unexpected­ly on February 28th.

Jack was the oldest of three children born on April 15, 1936, to Joseph Lanzieri and Dorothy Early Lanzieri.

Jack was raised in Derby, CT and would often share fond memories of his buddies from Olivia Street and swimming at the “Rec” on the Housatonic River. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Derby High School, class of 1954. He met his wife Joan at Rocco’s Pizza, her family’s restaurant, on Powe Street in Ansonia, where he perfected the art of making pizza. Jack served his country proudly in the Marine Corps. for 4 years. He later worked as an insurance broker for many years with the Knights of Columbus, where he was a Fourth Degree Knight. After retiring, he and Joan moved to The Villages in Florida until moving back to Connecticu­t several years ago. Jack is survived by his wife, Joan Barbieri Lanzieri; son, Mark (Patricia) Lanzieri; daughter, Jacqueline Lanzieri; grandchild­ren, Salvatore Lanzieri (Keir), Alicia Lanzieri, Joseph Lanzieri, Nicole Lanzieri Vidro (Sadi); and great- grandchild­ren, Michael Lanzieri and Aviana Vidro. A sister, Rosemarie Ellsworth ( Jack); nephew, Jack; and several cousins. He was predecease­d by a brother, Michael Lanzieri; and nephew, David Ellsworth. As per his wishes, Jack’s body has been donated to the Anatomical Gift Program at Quinnipiac University for medical education and research. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, at Holy Rosary Church, Father Salemi Dr., Ansonia, CT, at 12pm.
