“Back From the Dead” by Halestorm (Atlantic)

Halestorm's new album, “Back From the Dead,” is not for the faint of heart, or anyone with even a trace of a headache: it's a full-on sonic assault of screams, wailing guitars, pounding drums and booming bass. The Associated Press' Wayne Parry says in a review that singer and guitarist Lzzy Hale manages to pull it off with a deft songwriting touch and a surprising sense of melody that

belies the bombast. She screams a lot on this record, and yet she has a truly beautiful voice when she chooses to use it. This is bound to be a strong contender for the best hard rock/heavy metal album of 2022.
