Church sponsors refugee resettlement project
One local church is joining others in the Valley to aid refugees.
The Huntington Congregational Church UCC is sponsoring a Valley Refugee Resettlement Project, its focus on relocating refugee families in the lower Naugatuck Valley region. The effort is led by members of the Huntington Church as well as the Valley community.
A public informational meeting will be held May 15
at 1 p.m. at the church hall, 19 Church St., on the Huntington Green. Area residents interested in supporting the effort are encouraged to attend.
A presentation will be given by Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS), in which the process and experience will be explained. IRIS assists vetted refugees and immigrants to establish new lives, regain hope, and contribute to the vitality of Connecticut’s communities.
