EAST HAVEN – The East Haven Farmers Market is set to open its 2022 season June 12, according to Mayor Joseph Carfora.

The market, which takes place on the Town Green, operates from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sundays rain or shine, according to the town. If the market is canceled on a given Sunday, notice will be posted on the town’s social media accounts and website.

“Our farmers market is a great place to meet up with neighbors, support our local farmers and purchase seasonal produce,” Carfora said in a release. “Farmers depend on the community to purchase their produce. The East Haven Farmers Market continues to grow each season and that is thanks to the residents’ and those who visit from our neighboring towns continued support.”

The farmers market provides access to locally grown and farm-fresh produce, the release read.

“The number of new vendors and variety of offerings have increased over the seasons,” said Michelle Benivegna, market manager. “Our goal is to provide affordable, fresh, local and healthy foods to our residents.”

Yoga will also be offered on the Green on Sundays beginning at 9 a.m.

This season, the market will partner with the Shoreline Garden Club to offer different planting activities for residents, the release said. On the market’s opening day, the garden club will be offering an opportunity for residents to plant herbs in pots they can decorate.

Activities will be free of charge. Free shopping bags also will be provided on opening day, acording to the release.

New vendors are welcome to participate in the market and can contact Benivegna at 203-468-3204 or mbenivegna
