May 18: Lag BaOmer Kumsitz in the BEKI courtyard. The folkcustom is to sing around a campfire at a “kumsitz,” meaning “come” and “sit.” The program will include niggunim—which have no words—as well as traditional American songs and Jewish songs. In case of rain, the kumsitz will be delayed one day. More information at beki.org or contact the office.
BEKI’s Social Action Tikkun Olam Committee is collecting medical and non-medical supplies for Ukraine. Over-the-counter cold and flu remedies, acetaminophen, aspirin, allergy medications, and digestion medicines, but only tablets, capsules, or gel tablets, not bottled liquids — are requested. Band aids, bandages, diapers, menstrual pads or tampons are also welcome. To arrange a time to leave off donations, call the BEKI office.
