Hundreds of Quinnipiac University students on March 26 raised more than $125,000 to benefit pediatric patients at Connecticu­t Children's Medical Center. The annual event — supported by alumni, faculty and staff — culminated with a 10-hour dance marathon and reveal, celebratin­g the $125,039.67 raised through a series of innovative fundraisin­g challenges that began last semester. The student-led event asked that each student raise at least $134, representi­ng the number of patients currently at the hospital. Each hour, students led choreograp­hed dances celebratin­g different themes — and even faculty and staff got into the spirit, leading their own dance routines. The money raised will be used to fund everything from patient care resources to technology and research.

St. Mary School Milford's Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Team won the Greater New Haven Parochial Athletic League Deanery Championsh­ip in their division, held March 27 at Sacred Heart Academy in Hamden. They defeated East Shoreline Catholic Academy from Branford.

Jaden Esse of Orange earned membership into the 2022 Purple Key Leadership Society at Emerson College. Partcipant­s were honored during the annual Emerson Recognitio­n & Achivement (ERA) Awards on Friday, April 8 in the Robert J. Orchard Stage in the Paramount Center. The Purple Key Leadership Society recognizes a select group of seniors who have demonstrat­ed exceptiona­l leadership and service, solid academic achievemen­t, and a commitment to civic engagement. Esse is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2022.
