E. Richard Wilson, 80, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022, at home following a valiant fight with cancer, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 29 years to Robin Wilson. Richard was born in New Haven on March 22, 1942, and was the son of the late Clifford E. and Emily Garde Wilson. He served in the US Army Reserves. Richard was the third-generation owner/operator of Wilson Furniture & Upholstery, founded in 1938, and Richard’s Upholstery since 2009. He was very active on many committees and commissions in the Town of North Haven. Father of Monique Gibbs (Ron), Christie Gibbs, Richard G. Wilson (Tammy), and Matthew F. Wilson (Leila Pinchot). Stepfather of Adam Chait (Erika) and Geoffrey Chait (Laura). Grandfather of Andrew Gibbs, Emily Gibbs, Zachary Gibbs, Natalie Wilson, Alison Wilson, Richard G. Wilson, Jr., Lucinda Wilson, Emile Wilson, Colton Chait, Roberto Chait, Lawton Chait, Penny Chait, and Thalia Chait. Brother of Marjorie Wilson, Barbara Costenbader, and the late Francis “Chuck” Wilson. Predeceased by his first wife

The visiting hours will be Sunday, May 15th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Avenue, North Haven on Monday morning, May 16th at 10:00 (Masks are strictly required for all services). Interment will follow in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford.
