Ken Mitchell told his Milford co-op boys hockey team this weekend that he won’t be back as coach.

Work and family demands, he said, played into his decision, which he’d more or less come to by the end of a 1-15-4 season.

“A promotion (at work, in the gas industry) I got this year, it’s more demanding,” Mitchell said, “and I’ve got kids who are older now.”

Mitchell took over the co-op in 2018-19. He led Hand to a Division II title in 2013-14, his first season as head coach. He also won a championship as a player at Fairfield Prep.
