Genevieve F. Karbowski

Genevieve Frances Karbowski, 69, of Northford, died May 15, 2022 in Connecticut Hospice. She was born in New Haven on February 17, 1953, to Henry and Josephine Pogwizd Karbowski. A statistician and educator dedicated to her students, Genevieve taught at several local institutions and was a long-time adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University. She graduated from East Haven High School in 1971 and went on to earn her bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Quinnipiac and a second master’s from the University of Connecticut. She was a devout Catholic and enjoyed reading, quilting, and movies, especially those directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Genevieve is survived by her sons, Christopher DeMatteo and his wife Krystle Rudzinski, Geoff DeMatteo and Timothy DeMatteo; her ex-husband, Thomas DeMatteo; and her sister, Judy Karbowski-Hall.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday (Today), from 4 to 7pm at the LUPINSKI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 821 State Street, New Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:30 in St. Ambrose Parish at St. Monica’s Church, Northford. Please meet directly at church.
