HAMDEN — A woman was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking on Paradise Avenue Wednesday night, according to police.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Paradise Avenue around 10:15 p.m. for a report of a struck pedestrian, Detective Sean Dolan said in an email.

Dolan said the pedestrian was a 37-year-old Hamden resident, but did not immediately release the woman's name.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was struck by a vehicle that is suspected of having front-end damage,” Dolan said.

Dolan said officers later found a suspect vehicle unoccupied in the area of Hume Drive, and the vehicle was seized by police as part of the investigation.

He asked anyone with information or video surveillance of the area to contact Officer Brett Ferrara of the Hamden Police Department's Traffic Division by calling 475-201-2127 or emailing bferrara@hamdenpd.com.
