Diane Marie Anastasio

Diane Marie Anastasio passed away Saturday, May 21st in her home. Born August 29th 1945 in New Haven, CT to Alberto and Elena Biagiarelli. She attended Wilbur Cross High School in New Haven and earned an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Bridgeport. She started her career with the Bridgeport School System, providing dental care to students. She recently retired after many years of working for prominent dentists in New Haven, Hamden, West Haven and Branford. She found a captive audience in her many loyal patients - often regaling them with stories while her dental tools prevented them from interrupting. Diane loved mystery novels, courtroom shows and police dramas. She adored Charles Dickens, Alfred Hitchcock, and Edgar Allen Poe. Diane loved to laugh with her family and fawned over them endlessly. Diane is predeceased by her parents and her brother, Dario Biagiarelli as well as her sister-in-law Genevieve Hartzberg. She is survived by her husband, Donald Anastasio, sister-in-law Anita Anastasio, daughters Valentina Vitale and Marisa Anastasio, son-in-law Mace Vitale and granddaughter Elena Vitale and her sisterin-law Joanna Biagiarelli, niece Daria Biagiarelli and nephew Kenneth Biagiarelli and grandnephew Christopher Coia.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 4:00-7:00 in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place in New Haven. Diane’s funeral service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Hospital.
