East Haven advances behind Bishop
Emilee Bishop scattered four hits and helped herself with a home run for the No. 1 seed East Haven, which defeated No. 8 Shelton 2-0 Monday in the SCC tournament quarterfinals at East Haven.
Lena Barthel added two hits for East Haven (19-2), which will host No. 4 seed West Haven in Tuesday’s semifinals.
Guilford 3, Hand 2: Ella Munson homered and doubled for No. 3 seed Guilford, which advanced to the SCC tournament semifinals with a home win. Guilford plays at No. 2 Law Tuesday.
O’Brien Tech 12, Kaynor Tech 0 (5): MeKenzie Revere tossed her second consecutive no-hitter with 11 strikeouts for top seed O’Brien Tech in the CTC quarterfinals at Ansonia.
Stephanie Tamburrino had four hits, including a home run, and Marley Orosz contributed four hits and four RBIs for the Condors (20-1). Kaynor Tech dropped to 13-8.
TENNIS
Hand 7, Guilford 0: The top-seeded Hand boys swept Guilford in the SCC tournament semifinals at Madison. The Tigers will attempt to go for their third consecutive SCC championship Tuesday against No. 2 seed Fairfield Prep at Amity.
Amity 7, Lauralton
Hall 0: A sweep in the SCC tournament semifinals at Woodbridge landed top seed Amity a chance to repeat as league tournament champions at home Tuesday against No. 2 Guilford.
BASEBALL
Hamden Hall 1, King 0 (10): Cam Maldonado’s double scored Brady Chernovetz in the bottom of the 10th inning for Hamden Hall in a prep school win at Hamden.
Maldonodo allowed no hits and struck out 17 over seven innings. Max Liebel pitched three innings of scoreless relief to get the win.
