Vincent J. Rubino Jr.

Vincent J. Rubino Jr., 89, of New Haven, beloved husband of Carmel Zampano Rubino, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2022, surrounded by his family at his home. Loving father of Donna (Ted) Rubino of East Haven and Gennette (Gary) Gagliardi of Hamden. Grandfather of Vincent ( Jackie) Gagliardi of Southington and Lauren (Ashish) Srivastava of California. Great-grandfather of Kaylee Gagliardi. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel, Ralph, Joseph, Pat and Ernie Rubino. Vincent was born in New Haven on December 24, 1932 to the late James and Jenny Porto Rubino. He enrolled in the Army at the age of 17 and served as a Tank Sergeant during the Korean War in Germany. After serving, he worked at Sikorsky Aircraft as a Flight Attendant Rigger for 38 years. He also worked part-time for the New Haven Ravens baseball team. He loved baseball and coached the Babe Ruth League, winning the district title in 1963. He was also an avid softball player, bowler and Red Sox fan.

Family and friends are invited to A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish in St. Therese Church (North Haven) Friday morning at 10:00. Entombment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. There will be No Calling Hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital www. stjude.org .
