Daughter was last seen on May 24, 2019

NEW CANAAN — Three years since Jennifer Dulos vanished, her mother clings to hope she will one day provide her daughter with a proper burial.

“She’d like to bury her next to her father,” her mother’s attorney Richard Weinstein said.

Gloria Farber was in her mid-80s when her daughter vanished on May 24, 2019. Farber has since become the legal guardian of her daughter’s five children, who are now between the ages of 11 and 16.

Jennifer Dulos was last seen dropping off her children at New Canaan Country School. The 50-year-old New Canaan woman had been embroiled in a twoyear divorce and custody battle with her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, who police believe attacked and killed her when she returned home from dropping off their children.

Fotis Dulos died by suicide in January 2020, weeks after being charged with killing his estranged wife. His death left questions whether Jennifer Dulos, who is presumed dead by authorities and her family, will ever be found.

As Tuesday marks three years since the disappearance, Jennifer Dulos’ family and friends find peace through her children.

“We feel the immeasurable loss of her person every day; we also delight in her presence and celebrate her spirit as they manifest in her five incredible children,” Carrie Luft, a longtime friend of Jennifer Dulos who has served as a family spokesperson since the disappearance, said in a statement. “We are deeply grateful that Jennifer’s children are thriving and her mother, Gloria, is healthy and well.”

In a case that has generated international attention, Stamford/Norwalk State’s Attorney Paul J. Ferencek said his office remains “focused on prosecuting those responsible for the murder of Jennifer Farber Dulos and seeking justice for her family, as well as working with law enforcement on any and all leads related to the case.”

The two remaining defendants in the case appear headed for trial.

Michelle Troconis, Fotis Dulos’ former girlfriend who has been accused of helping him cover up the crime, will likely announce she is taking her case to trial when she appears in court on June 7, her attorney, Jon Schoenhorn, said Monday.

Troconis is free on bond after pleading not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence and hindering prosecution.

Kent Mawhinney, a longtime friend and former attorney for Fotis Dulos, already has his case on the list for a trial date to be set.

Mawhinney, who is accused of trying to provide an alibi for Fotis Dulos the morning of the disappearance, is also free on bond after pleading not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder. The prosecution has said Mawhinney will likely be a key witness for the state if Troconis goes to trial.

The case, which has prompted one of the largest police investigations in Connecticut history, has been the subject of several TV documentaries and the Lifetime movie, “Gone

Mom: The Disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.”

The case has also spurred new Connecticut legislation that broadens the definition of domestic violence. Dubbed “Jennifers Law,” the legislation was inspired by Jennifer Dulos and Jennifer Magnano, a Litchfield County mom who was killed by her husband in 2007.

Jennifer Dulos was reported missing around 7 p.m. May 24, 2019 after not showing up for appointments in New York City that day. A New Canaan police officer investigating the missing persons report spotted what appeared to be blood in the garage of the home she had been renting, state police said.

The discovery touched off a massive manhunt that is still active today, said Brian Foley, executive assistant to state Department of Emergency Services and Public

Protection Commissioner James Rovella who oversees the state police.

“It’s still an open and active investigation,” Foley said Monday.
