The Revivalists replace Ziggy Marley at Sound On Sound festival
For the second time in two weeks, an artist has dropped out of Sound On Sound’s inaugural lineup.
Ziggy Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, has dropped out of this year’s lineup. “Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, Ziggy Marley will no longer be performing,” reads a statement on the festival’s Instagram story.
Marley was scheduled to perform at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24.
Marley addressed the cancellation in an Instagram story, saying he was “sincerely sorry” for dropping out and promised to “make it up.”
Shortly after the announcement of the cancellation, the festival made a follow-up announcement that New Orleans-bred rock band The Revivalists would be the replacement for Ziggy Marley. The band, known for its charttopping hit “Wish I Knew You,” will perform at the same time Marley was scheduled to perform.
Two weeks ago, Sound On Sound faced another cancellation after Black Pumas announced the cancellation of all of its upcoming performances. The Roots, a Grammy-winning hip-hop group that serves as the house band for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” was announced as the replacement act.
Recently, the festival announced its set times for the weekend as well as the food vendors, which include local eats like the Little Pub restaurant chain, the Tasty Yolk, Hoodoo Brown BBQ, Thai Jasmine and Connecticut doughnut chain Donut Crazy.
The inaugural festival will take place in Bridgeport’s Seaside Park on Sept. 24 and 25. Weekend passes are still available.
