Church schedules annual meeting

OLD LYME — Members and friends of Saint Ann's Parish will gather for their Annual Meeting at 11 a.m. Jan. 29 at the church. The meeting will be preceded by a 9:30 worship service. Light refreshmen­ts will be served after the service and before the annual meeting. The meeting is a celebratio­n of the work of the parish for the year 2022. Reports are given and a slate of officers and members for the board, the Vestry, is presented for election. A highlight of this year's meeting will be the adoption of proposed revisions to the bylaws. All are welcome to join the fellowship and business of the day.

Saint Mary School to hold open house

‘Real People Real Talk’ lectures offered

ORANGE/WOODBRIDGE — Chabad of Orange/Woodbridge presents Real People Real Talk. The guest speaker Jan. 29 is Judge Ruchie Freier, a New York City Criminal Court Judge. She began her career in 2001 as an intern in the Manhattan office of then- US Senator, Hillary Clinton. In 2011, she founded Ezras Nashim, an all-female Orthodox Jewish volunteer EMT ambulance service establishe­d with the goal of preserving women's modesty in emergency medical situations, especially childbirth. Congregati­on BEKI announces programs

Feb. 11: Author Roya Hakakian will speak about Women, Life and Liberty: Current Protests in Iran. Born and raised in Tehran, she arrived in the U.S. in 1985. Her writing includes the memoir Journey from the Land of No: A Girlhood Caught in Revolution­ary Iran and Assassins of the Turquoise Palace.

Feb. 22: BE SMART for Kids will be the topic for a Zoom conversati­on Wednesday evening, February 22 with Joanna Taczanowsk­y, who is the state lead of that effort. The presentati­on will address gun accidents and the risk of guns in suicide.

March 1: A new documentar­y conceived and narrated by Carol Anderson, will be shown on Zoom, followed by a conversati­on with the producer, titled I, Too, from the Langston Hughes poem with those opening words. Details at beki.org

March 6: Erev Purim festivitie­s; Adar celebratio­n will begin a week earlier, Feb. 24-25, with Crazy Hat Shabbat.

Adults and children are encouraged to wear crazy hats as a warmup to Purim, when full costumes are encouraged. Details at beki.org

Congregati­on B’Nai Jacob schedules services, events

WOODBRIDGE — Congregati­on B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Road, Woodbridge, announces the following services and programs. We are streaming and live for Shabbat evening and morning services. We are no longer Zooming these services. We ask that anyone entering the building vaccinated, including boosters.

Morning Minyan is held Monday through Friday at 7:15 a.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.
