Katherine A. Carley

-

Katherine A. Edelmann Carley, 89, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice in Branford after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 64 years to the late James E. Carley, who passed away a little over two years ago. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 3, 1933, Katherine was the daughter of the late Karl and

Anna Heimerl Edelmann, who both emigrated from Germany. She grew up on East 28th Street during the Great Depression. Despite those difficult times she loved Brooklyn, growing up in a mixed-ethnic neighborhood that was filled with fun and excitement. Unbeknownst to her at the time, her future husband lived just two doors down from her. Katherine and her husband were proud graduates of James Madison High School. She was an avid fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers, going to many games at Ebbets Field, until they broke her heart by moving to the West Coast. She also enjoyed her trips to Coney Island with her girlfriends. Known for her amazing cooking and baking skills, Katherine especially enjoyed Christmas, when she would make her incredible turkey, unmatched sausage stuffing, and famous butterhorn cookies. She loved getting together with friends and family, “the more the merrier!” Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and she loved them all unconditionally. She will truly be missed by all who knew her and will never be forgotten. Beloved mother of James (Dana) Carley and Christine (Dan) Robinson. Loving grandmother of Shane, Justin and Taylor Carley and Michael Robinson. Predeceased by her parents, brothers Frank and Fritz Edelmann and her many beloved pets.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Georges Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield Street, Guilford, Saturday morning, February 11th at 12 noon to attend a Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, Inc., 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405. However, Kate would most appreciate you taking time to spend with those you love, hug your children a little tighter, be extra nice to your pets and as she would always say, Drive Safe! The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue have been entrusted with the arrangements. www.northhavenfuneral. com
