Cora May Coulson-Metcalf, resident of Guilford CT, passed away at Yale-New Haven Hospital on February 5, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on October 18, 1950 in Manahoy City, PA the daughter of George and Martha (Morris) Coulson who had predecease­d her. She leaves behind her loving husband, John Metcalf. She is also survived by her son, Christophe­r Piedescalz­o ( Jennifer Scaia) of Tampa FL, daughter Amber Bialczak (Robert) and grandchild­ren Gavin, Teagan and Grant Bialczak of Berlin CT.

Cora was raised in Waterbury, CT where she attended Crosby High School. She was a graduate of Southern Connecticu­t State University. She retired from the VA Medical Center In West Haven after thirty years of service. There she rose to the position of Coordinato­r of the Institutio­nal Review Board. In retirement, Cora was an avid reader and proficient knitter.

Cora faced many health challenges over the years with grace and courage. She will be missed by family and friends. The family wishes to thank the medical team at Yale New Haven Hospital for the exceptiona­l care they gave to Cora and thank all of the doctors and nurses who cared for her over the years.

Friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, February 9 from 5 – 7 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Funeral Services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 129 Ledge Hill Rd., Guilford on Friday, February 10 at 10 am. Burial will follow in North Guilford Cemetery.
