Irma Perkes Kelson, age 95, formerly of West Haven, Connecticu­t passed away on February 8, 2023. Irma was the last surviving member of her generation. She was born in New Haven to Harry and Sarah Perkes on October 3, 1927.

Irma was married to Irving “Pat” Kelson on October 31, 1948. They had a loving relationsh­ip for 55 years until his death in 2004. A beloved parent, she is survived by her daughters Debra Rosenblum, Judy Murray and Donna Goldsmith, and her son-in-law Stanley Rosenblum. She is also survived by her aide Marshia Dujon.

Irma and Pat lived in Benham Hills, West Haven where they made life-long friends and were active in the Jewish Community.

Irma and her dearest friend of over 70 years, Sonny Alderman experience­d the joys, sorrows, and adventures of life together, as only best friends can.

What brought Irma the most joy in her life was taking care of the people she loved. Her face would light up when she spent time with her grandchild­ren, Michael,

Jessica, Katie and Brian, Daniel, Sean and Lorren; and her great-grandchild­ren James ( JP), Mia, Bryson and Connor. She was blessed with many nephews and nieces who she loved very much.

Irma grew up in a supportive family. Her parents, bother Leo and his wife Janet, her sister Bea and husband Arnold were the center of her life. Pat’s brothers Arthur and Sammy, and their spouses Irene and Dotty, and Pat’s sister Mim and husband Abe made her part of their family from the first snowstorm where was “trapped” in her future sister-in-law’s home for days.

Irma had a life surrounded by people who meant the world to her and spent her life embracing her family and friends with kindness, laughter and joy. May her memory always be for a blessing.

There will be a private graveside funeral at Beaverdale Memorial Park on Thursday, February 9. Her daughter Debbie will sit Shiva at her home in Wanaque, New jersey.
