Edward A. “Ed” Karber

Jr., age 77, of Cheshire passed away unexpected­ly on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at MidState Medical Center. He was the devoted husband of Charlene (Tracanna) Karber for over 56 years. Edward was born on July

13, 1945, in New Haven, son of the late Edward Sr. and Helen M. (Fanning) Karber. Ed was raised in Hamden, and attended local schools, graduating from Hamden High School, Class of 1963. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing from New Haven College. He was the owner of Karber Photo in Hamden.

Ed and Charlene moved to Cheshire in 1971 and began their family. Throughout the years, they enjoyed travelling the world, including Italy, France and China. They also traveled across the country with their children in their motor home, and lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida during the winter. Ed loved riding his Harley Davidson to many destinatio­ns around the country, most recently on a trip to Idaho. He was an avid fisherman, yachtsman, and proudly held a U.S.C.G. Captain’s license. Ed also was a charter boat and yacht delivery captain. For the past twenty-four years, Ed owned and operated Offshore Yacht Sales with offices in Cheshire and Fort Lauderdale.

In addition to his beloved wife, and high school sweetheart, Charlene of Cheshire, Ed leaves his loving children, Carol Ann DiBenedict­is and her husband, Nicholas, of Cheshire; and Richard Karber and his wife, Teresa, of Higganum; his cherished grandchild­ren, Sara Canada and her husband, Steven, Nicholas DiBenedict­is, Alexander Karber and Lily Karber; and his sister, Ellen Lenkiewicz. He was predecease­d by his brother-in-law, Donald Lenkiewicz.

Friends may greet Ed’s family at the AldersonFo­rd Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m..
