ANSONIA — Police say a local man has been charged in connection with a standoff with the authorities last week that lasted several hours.

Eric Warren was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with two counts of criminal possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct, Ansonia Police Lt.Patrick Lynch said in a news release Wednesday. The 50-year-old was also charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia.

Warren was released on $75,000 bond and was due to appear Wednesday in state Superior Court in Derby. Court records do not indicate whether he entered a plea to the charges. The case is next due in court on April 14.

Last Wednesday, Ansonia police were called around 3 a.m. to Warren’s home on Prospect Street after receiving a call for help for a man who was behaving irrationally and had a gun, Lynch said.

The incident resulted in a standoff that closed the street for several hours.

Police said the incident ended after Warren came out peacefully with the help of a relative. He was taken to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.

Police located two guns during a search of the home, Lynch said. substance abuse issues can call the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration national helpline at 800662-HELP (4357) for a free and confidential treatment referral or for more information.
