Eleanor Zampano, 90, of Durham, died peacefully on May 20, 2023, in Middlesex Hospital. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Zampano.

Eleanor was born in New Haven on March 18, 1933, to the late Ralph and Adele Kowalski Pietrosimo­ne. She graduated from Boardman Trade School and went on to work at the New Haven Clock Shop, Forte’s Market, in the cafeteria for the North Branford School system, Heritage Cable Co. and US Surgical Co. before retiring to spend more time with her family.

Eleanor was a lifelong Yankee fan and loved cheering them on (screaming at them). She liked to read, play Sudoku on her iPad and take trips to the casino and Atlantic City.

She was a loving mother to Teresa Zampano, Mariann Malay (David), Salvatore Zampano and the late Roseann DeMaio and Eleanor Predom. Sister of the late Frank and Ralph Pietrosimo­ne, Jr. Proud grandmothe­r of Devon, Ethan, Emma, Marie, Holli, Sal III, William, Ashley, Caitlin, James and the late Jonathan Predom and adoring great-grandmothe­r of Isla, twins Adele and Lorna,

Luka, Anthony, Ambrose, Madison, Matthew and William III. She is also survived by her son-in-law William M. Predom, Sr.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc., 11 Wooster Place, New Haven. Graveside services will take place Friday morning at 11:00 a.m. in
