Bernard ( Jerry) (Dewey) Kelley fought like a true Irishman, unfortunately that fight came to an end on May 22, 2023 with loving family by his side. He spent some of his younger years in the Navy during the Vietnam War and he spent a good portion of his adult life working for United States Surgical Corporation, where he moved up the ranks and became Director of Manufacturing. Besides his professional career he spent all his free time with his family, he taught us girls to be able to change a tire, amongst other things, so that we didn’t have to depend on anyone else. He taught his grandson to ride dirt bikes and how to fix and take care of them and many many other things (he did truly love having a boy around). He was predeceased by his father in June 1944 during WWII, Bernard Joseph Kelley, his mother Elizabeth Keohane Kelley Moriarty, his stepdad John Moriarty, his sister-in-law Nancy Moriarty and his loving, beautiful wife Dorothy (Gram) Anderson Kelley. He leaves behind his two daughters Kristina Kelley and Kirsten Kelley Thompson (Scott), as well as his best friend and only grandchild Sean J Kelley. He also leaves behind his brothers John ( Jack) Moriarty (Sue), Neil Moriarty ( Jo-Anne), Robert (Bobby) Moriarty and his sister Kathleen (Kate) Moriarty Klein (Bill). He also leaves several nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces. To say that he is going to be missed is an understatement, we love you dad (Dewey). Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd., North Branford, on Friday, June 2, from 5pm to 7pm with services starting at 7pm followed by military honors. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: K9’s for Warriors, American Heart Association or Hospice.
