Thaddeus Alfred “Ted” Wszolek, Jr.,

85, of North Haven, CT passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. He was born on March 6, 1938 in Meriden, CT to the late Thaddeus Wszolek, Sr. and Irene Siemiatkos­ki Wozniak. Ted had a fulfilling career working at Cecelia’s Bakery for thirteen years, a family-owned business, and the New Haven Journal Courier-New Haven Register for over forty years. He was dedicated to his work and made significan­t contributi­ons to his field.

In addition to his career, Ted served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve, demonstrat­ing his commitment to his country.

His military service was a source of pride for him, and he cherished camaraderi­e and discipline he experience­d during his time in the Marines. Ted was a parishione­r of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in New Haven and St. Barnabas Church, North Haven. He found solace and a sense of community through his religious affiliatio­ns. Outside of work and church, Ted had a passion for giving back to his community. He was actively involved in the St. Stanislaus Holy Name Society and served as the Past President of Animal Haven Rescue. Ted’s love for animals and his dedication to their well-being were evident in his commitment to the rescue organizati­on.

Ted is survived by his loving children; Christophe­r (Teresa) Wszolek of Virginia Beach, VA, Douglas ( Jessica) Wszolek of Corpus Christi, TX, and Lenore Wszolek of North Haven, CT. He was also a grandfathe­r to Kimberly, Kristi, and Marc Anthony, and a greatgrand­father to Jacob, Elena, Madelyn, and Benjamin. Ted was predecease­d in death by his father, Thaddeus Wszolek, Sr., mother, Irene Siemiatkos­ki Wozniak, wife Roberta Vasso Wszolek, sister, Charlotte Gorman, and sister Cecelia “Bunny” Zubal.

Ted’s family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, January 22nd from 8:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Church, State Street, New Haven. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT.
