Branford - Formerly of Florida

Luciana “Luci” Kenyon,

75, entered into heavenly rest on Thursday, February 8, 2024, while in the loving presence of her family after a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Luci was born March 2, 1948, to the late John and Mary (DiCaprio) Maio in Alife, Italy. She then grew up in the New Haven area and graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1966.

Luci was always traveling up and down the East Coast. Some secretly say that she must have been part gypsy, but her family always knew she was forever searching for her happy place. Luci was an amazing cook and always put her love into each meal. Her signature seafood salad during the holidays or her everyday turkey meatballs were always a smash hit. Luci loved and always had to have her music playing. All types were on her playlist but she most enjoyed listening to songs from the 1960’s. She held many positions over the years in CT as well as FLA from hairdressing, gaming ( Jai alai), medical and her favorite, retail. In the more recent years, she became a member of the Elks club where she always liked to spend time at the Westbrook site. Luci always loved to be around people. It didn’t matter if it was a social outing, church, family events or even working, she was always quick with a smile and some kind of story, making friends easily. Some were for the moment, and some were for a lifetime.

Luci leaves behind to cherish her memory her two sons, John (Diana) Kusmit, Jeffrey (Amy) Kusmit along with three Grandchildren Tyler, Connor and Alexander all from Naugatuck. She is also survived by her siblings Connie, Rolando, Antonio and Rose with many beloved nieces, nephews and family friends. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Kenyon and a sister Rosalia.

A Celebration of Luci’s life will be held at her church Liberty Community Church, 540 Washington Ave., North Haven, CT 06473 on Monday, February 19, 2024 at 10:00 a.m . In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation in Luci’s name to Liberty Community Church libertycommunity.com/donate.
