New Haven Register (New Haven, CT)
Patrica K. Zane
Patricia King Zane of North Branford, CT entered into eternal rest on February 22, 2024. She was the high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years of John Zane. Mother of Kenneth J. Zane ( Jillmary) of Cheshire and Christopher J. Zane (Kathleen) of Guilford; and grandmother of Ashley, Ian, Gregory, Charlie, and Oliver Zane. She was the sister of Stephen David King (Anne) of Exeter, NH. Born March 4, 1937, daughter of the late Stephen and Nora Cosgrove King, she was raised in New Haven, graduating from St. Boniface School (‘50) and
St. Mary’s High School (‘54). Following high school, she was employed by SNET while attending comptometer school. Upon completion of the program, she was recruited to a position in the office of the Auditor of Disbursement at The New Haven Railroad. She resigned from the Railroad to raise her sons but maintained her interest and skills by volunteering her services to the East Haven schools as bookkeeper, financial secretary, and treasurer for the PTAs and the EH High School Band Parents’ Association. In the early 1980s she earned her licenses as a Realtor and Real Estate Broker but delayed her entry into the profession in order work with son, Christopher in the establishment of Zane’s Cycle and Zane’s Inc. She served as the corporate president for five years before resuming her interest in real estate with The W. T. Beazley Company and later with Coldwell Banker/ Coast & Country. She was a member of the Cub Scout Pack 412 Committee while her husband and sons were active members of the unit. From 1972 to 1989 she was an avid square dancer with the Guilford Shoreliners SDC, serving as president with her husband for three of those 17 years. More recently, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s athletic events. For all her activities and accomplishments, she might be best quietly remembered for her pro-bono assistance to many friends and acquaintances as a highly experienced Real Estate Broker during difficult times.
