Adeline Stango

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Adeline Giordano Stango,
93, of Vernon formerly of Woodbridge beloved wife of 51 years to the late Joseph P. Stango passed away on March 1, 2024 at the home of her son, Joseph, surrounded by her loving family two days after her 93rd birthday. Loving mother of Joseph A. (Deborah) Stango of Vernon and Anthony (Michael Pace) Stango of New Paltz, NY.
She was born in Woodbridge on February 28, 1931 daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette DiLauro Giordano. Adeline was the last remaining member of a large Italian family. She was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph, John and Anthony “Sonny” Giordano; sisters, Carmella “Dolly” Marinaccio, Mary Carasone, Amelia “Molly” Mentone, Julia Liguori, Louise Puglisi, Anna Edwards, Antoinette Laudano, Susan “Susie” DiBianco and Marie “Babe” Boccamaiello and best friend and niece, Nancy Cavallaro. Grandmother of Christine (her loving caregiver), Joseph and Danielle ( James) Caviness; and seven great-grandchildren, Eric (Nicole) Mathiau, Benjamin and Hannah Hoffnung and Colin, Connor, Carson and Camden Sward. Adeline was a lifelong resident of Woodbridge and a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting, playing cards, lunching with her “dear friends” and participating in activities with The Women of Woodbridge. Her family was her world; and she looked forward to the holidays, cooking for and entertaining her large Italian family.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial FRIDAY morning, March 8, 2024, in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd., Woodbridge at 11:00. Inurnment will follow in the Garden Mausoleum of St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church from 10:00 until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Adeline’s memory to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd., Woodbridge, CT 06525.
