Marguerite “Peggy” Brennan passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the Connecticu­t Hospice in Branford after a valiantly fought 8-year cancer battle. Peggy was raised in Bridgeport and graduated from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. She subsequent­ly received her MSW from the University of Connecticu­t’s Graduate School of Social Work. At the time of her passing she had recently relocated to Hamden after being a longtime resident of both North Haven and New Haven.

Peggy’s initial employment was at the Robert Wolfe Senior Center and subsequent­ly at Fair Haven Housing, both in New Haven. After serving as program director for the Greater Bridgeport Transit District, she worked in planning and economic developmen­t capacities for many Connecticu­t towns and cities, including Hamden, New Haven, Bridgeport and Meriden. She also served on the North Haven Democratic Town Committee and the North Haven Police Commission.

Peggy is survived by her son David Picton, her stepson Eric Darley and his wife Amy Christophe­r and their two children, Angela and Adrian Darley, brothers Jerry and John Brennan, and many beloved relatives in and around Kilkenny, Ireland. She was predecease­d by her husband Steve Darley, mother and father Marguerite and Edward Brennan, and brother Eddie Brennan.

A celebratio­n of life will occur with details to be determined.
