Actor, singer Corbin Bleu to speak at SCSU commencement
Actor and singer Corbin Bleu will speak at Southern Connecticut State University’s 2024 Undergraduate Commencement ceremony, the university announced Wednesday.
Bleu is best known for his role as Chad Danforth in Disney’s 2006 film “High School Musical.” He has also starred in several TV shows, including “Chicago Med,” “The Fosters,” “Psych” and more. He also has experience in theater and recently starred in the off-Broadway musical “Little Shop of Horrors” with actress Constance Wu.
The “High School Musical” star made his Goodspeed debut last summer in the musical “Summer Stock.”
According to a release from SCSU, Bleu also “dedicates himself to giving back through programs such as St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Starlight Children’s Foundation, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.”
Bleu will be the keynote speaker at the undergraduate ceremony on Friday, May 17, at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport.
The undergraduate ceremony will start with an academic procession at 10:15 a.m.
Robin Kanarek, president of the Kanarek Family Foundation, will receive an honorary doctorate of humane letters at the undergraduate ceremony. Kanarek’s nonprofit organization aims to improve the quality of life for those affected by cancer and other lifethreatening conditions by promoting and integrating palliative care into healthcare.
Ted Yang will speak at Southern Connecticut State University’s Graduate Commencement. Yang is the founder of multiple companies and nonprofits, including 4-CT, Connecticut’s largest COVID-19 relief fund.
The graduate ceremony will also be held on Friday, May 17, at Total Mortgage Arena starting at 4 p.m.
