CASE, DAVID L.

-

David Laurence Case, 50, of Westbrook, passed away peacefully, on July 31, 2018 with his loving family by his side. He was born in New Haven, on April 25, 1968, to his pound parents, Larry and Jerri Case of Clinton. He attended North Haven public schools and Fort Lauderdale College. In 1992, Dave with his two brothers and cousin Bill, opened Clinton Antique Center. He was very proud when the shop was voted #1 Best Antique Shop on the CT shoreline. Quite often, you would see him climbing a ladder hanging vintage porcelain signs collected through the years. Every customer and dealer was very important to him. Dave greeted everyone who walked through the door with a big smile. He often boasted that Clinton Antique Center was just “One Big Happy Family,” of longtime customers and antique dealers. Just in case someone wanted to shop, he never wanted to close the store, even during a winter snow storm. The fountain out front was a great love of his. He would light it up on Christmas and other special holidays. Everyone loved the fountain when it froze during the winter months. Dave was a kind, caring person, always eager to lend a helping hand. His family was very important to him. He loved to travel and always had his atlas nearby. He explored the United States extensively, visiting many states numerous times. Visiting National Parks and hunting for Roseville pottery along the way, was a great priority. Some of his favorite destinations in Canada were Nova Soctia, Prince Edward Island, Isle of Madeleine, Labrador City and St George’s Bay, Newfoundland. Boating was also important part of his life. He captained his own boat up the Hudson River to Lake Champlain, thru the locks to Montreal and then to the St. Lawrence Sea Way. Another trip brought him up the Hudson River, through the Erie Canal, Great Lakes, Georgian Bay, Ontario and on to Duluth, Minnesota connecting him to the Mississippi River. Dave was a great mechanic, could rebuild any engine, and loved cars, especially his 1977 280Z. Friends often relied on him to fix any problem they had with their car. Sadly, his brothers were in the process of restoring their 1965 Mustang fastback for his 50th birthday. The one consolation we have, is that he is now in Heaven with his grandparents, whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Celia and Adolph Macina and his paternal grandparents Florence and Walter Case. Besides his parents, he is survived by his two brothers Jim Case (Tracie Schmidt) and Joe Case (Allison), his nieces Alyssa Case and Emily Case, his loving Godparents, Aunts, Uncles, and many Cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Church of Christ Cong, Clinton. Burial at Indian River Cemetery. Friends may call at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 East Main Street, Clinton Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Carl Swan at Hamden Memorial Funeral Home, 1300 Dixwell Avenue Hamden.
