LANDINO, MICHAEL
Michael Landino, 88, of Wallingford, devoted husband of Evelyn (Simmons) Landino for 64 years, passed away August 1, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice. He was born in Branford on June 11, 1930, a son of John and Philomena (Palmeri) Landino who emigrated from Italy. He served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War where he was instrumental in saving the lives of many men from enemy and friendly fire during intense battles. He was a hardworking self-taught master carpenter and was devoted to his family. Most of his customers ended up as friends. He had a love for people and could talk to anyone. His smile could light up a room. Anyone who knew him, knew his love for story telling and inevitably heard those stories more than once. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, he is survived by his daughters, Lori Foggitt and her partner, Richard Cone, Jane Buckley, and Joan Landino, all of Wallingford; his sister, Mary Pericone of Branford; his grandchildren, Megan Foggitt, Mikell Germond and her husband, Kevin, and Adam Buckley; his great grandson, Karson Germond; his sons-in-law, Robert Foggitt, John M. Roy, and James Buckley; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lucy DeCaprio, Theresa Weed, Jennie Rose DeFilippo, Marie Ottaviano, and Antoinette Rannalli, and his brothers, M. J. and Joseph Landino.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory can be made to Horizon Wings Raptor Rehabilitation & Education, P.O.
