GUDORP, BERNIECE

Berniece Lonetta Marget Hivner Gudorp, 91, died on Sunday August 26 at Talmadge Park Health Care in East Haven CT. Born in Moline Kansas on November 14, 1926, she resided in Kansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, New Jersey and Connecticut. While attending college at Kansas State Teachers College in Pittsburg Kansas, she met the love of her life, Charles Glennon Gudorp, and they married on August 4, 1946. He passed in 2007. While in college, she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and assisted in the sorority being established in New Jersey during the 1970’s along with her dear friend Rosemary Harris. She was a primary grade school teacher and taught 3rd grade at Our Lady of Victories School in Sayreville, NJ and St. Ambrose School in Old Bridge, NJ in the 1960s and 70s. Berniece is survived by her daughter Margot Nimiroski and her husband Stanson of Branford CT, a son, Charles Jr. and his wife Charlotte of Scotch Plains NJ, a grandson Joshua Dickman and his partner Kelly Szyszka of East Haven CT, granddaughters Lee Gudorp of Richmond VA, Teri Hansen and her husband James of Fanwood NJ, great grandchildren Grady, Curtis and Gwen Hansen. Berniece was predeceased by her parents The Rev. John S.C. Hivner and Alma Gilmore Hivner; her brother Mauriece Hivner and sisters Vernaniece Furneaux, Geniece Lindemann and Nolaliece Burrows. She was also predeceased by her caring friend Anthony Sessa. The family wishes to thank the staff at Talmadge Park Health Care and Seasons Hospice for their loving care.
