Former UConn defensive lineman Foley Fatukasi and Foye Oluokun, a linebacker from Yale, both made NFL opening game rosters after being taken in the sixth round in April’s NFL draft as did former Xavier High School and UConn quarterback Tim Boyle.

Fatukasi survived the final cuts to make the New York Jets roster while Oluokun is one of eight rookies to make the Atlanta Falcons roster. Oluokun will be joined in Atlanta by former UConn cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who returns for his third season with the Falcons.

Boyle made the Green Bay roster after being signed as an undrafted rookie free agent as he is expected to open the season as Green Bay’s No. 3 quarterback.

A total of eight former UConn players made the 53-player rosters as Fatukasi, Wreh-Wilson and Boyle are joined by Los Angeles Chargers receiver Geremy Davis, Houston tight end Ryan Griffin, Dallas defensive back Byron Jones, Kansas City fullback Anthony Sherman and Seattle defensive lineman Shamar Stephen.

Former UConn receiver Nick Williams and defensive back Andrew Adams were cut by Tennessee and the New York Giants, respectively. Williams has 28 career receptions in previous stops in Washington and Atlanta. Adams made the Giants as an undrafted rookie and started 13 games during the 2016 season and 17 games in his two seasons with the Giants.

Four members of UConn’s 2017 team were released as Vontae Diggs (Redskins), Junior Joseph (Bengals) and Jamar Summers (Steelers) were cut on Saturday while Alec Bloom was let go by Arizona on Friday. All four, signed after not being selected in the 2018 NFL draft, are eligible to land on the practice squads. Linebacker Matt Oplinger and tight end Jaeden Graham, members of Yale’s 2017 Ivy League championship team, were released by Arizona and Atlanta, respectively.
