WALLINGFOR­D - Edna Wieland, 106, passed on peacefully from this life on September 20, 2018 at Masonicare Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Wieland. Edna was born in Meriden, CT on March 26, 1912 to the late Philip and Eva (Guilbeault) Germain. In her earlier years, she studied portraitur­e at Choate and Yale University and served as past president of the Wallingfor­d Art League. Edna enjoyed swimming and nature walks and her motto for longevity was “moderation in all things”.

Edna is survived by her son William R. Wieland (Betsy) of Stony Creek and her daughter, Mary Wieland Neal (Thomas) of Guilford. She also leaves behind her grandchild­ren; Blake Neal, Chad Neal (Twyla), Rachel Neal DMD, Christophe­r Wieland and Jamieson Wieland (Rebecca) as well as her great-grandchild­ren; Mitchell Raymer, Kate Neal, Kiva Walsh, Ellie, Cody and Caroline Wieland. Edna is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony St., Wallingfor­d. Relatives and friends may attend a visitation earlier that morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingfor­d. Burial in St. John Cemetery will be private. The family is extremely grateful to the staff of Masonicare, Ramage 3, for the exceptiona­l care given to Edna.
