Area charity golf tournaments

1 The Stratford High School boys basketball program is holding the 2nd Annual Red Devil Hoops Golf Fundraiser at the Short Beach Golf Course. A 9 a.m. shotgun start will kick off the event which will include contests, raffles, and a buffet lunch at end of your round. Cost is $55 per golfer. 1 The Branford Rotary Club’s 7th annual Golf Classic will be held at Wallingford Country Club. The tournament will benefit the Branford Counseling Center Basic Needs Program, Cosgrove Animal Shelter, local veterans’ groups, Soundview YMCA Annual Campaign, and the Orchard House. The schedule for the tourney is as follows: 7:30 am: registration, 8 am: continental breakfast, 9:30 am: shotgun start, 1 pm: BBQ buffet, cocktail hour (open bar) raffle, and auction. Prizes to be awarded include Longest Drive, Men & Women Closest to the Pin, Gross Score for 1st, 2nd and last place and holes-inone. Registration is $150 per golfer. Appropriate attire is required. Spikeless shoes are required, and jeans are prohibited. Spectators are welcome. Cocktail party and lunch buffet available for non-golfers at $45.
