GIVENS, ROBIN C. “BOB”

Robin C. “Bob” Givens, 84, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at the Arden House Rehabilitation Center. He was the beloved husband of Sheila Klosenski Givens. Bob was born in Middleboro, Kentucky on January 10, 1934 and was the son of the late Coy and Olah Pritchard Givens. He served his country faithfully in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. An instructor at the American Culinary Institute in New Haven, he worked as a Chef for thirty-six years in various hotels in Virginia and Connecticut. Bob was a member of the Hamden Elks Lodge, VFW Post #88 of Hamden and a lifelong member of the Guilford Fair Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Father of Roy (Danielle) Givens, Kathy Givens, Margie (Sy) Soobitski, Michael Givens and Robin J. (Tracy) Givens. Step-father of Elizabeth (Casey) Cassidy, Diana (Andreas) Glocker and Sheila (Gordon Wiehler) Weaver. Brother of Nelly (John) Potinick, Bonnie (Eric) Coward, Ronnie Givens and George (Sue) Givens. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted in the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue on Monday evening at 6:30. Family and friends may call from 4 until time of service. Interment will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford. www.northhavenfuneral.com
