Palecco helps Yale skate past Clarkson

Dante Palecco scored a game-winning power-play goal at 11:35 of the second period to lead the Yale men’s hockey team to a 2-1 ECAC Hockey win over Clarkson at Cheel Arena in Potsdam, N.Y. on Saturday.

Luke Stevens gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at 1:12 of the first period.

Haralds Egle responded for Clarkson (8-5, 2-2) and tied the game at 1 at 17:42 of the first period.

Sam Tucker had 19 Saves for the Bulldogs (5-2-2, 4-2-1). Jake Kielly had 36 saves for Clarkson.

Quinnipiac 6, Princeton 3: Chase Priskie and Craig Martin each scored twice to lead the Bobcats to their ECAC Hockey win at Hobey Baker Rink in Princeton, N.J. The Bobcats scored four goals in the second period to take control of the game.

After Ryan Kuffner gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead at 2:09 of the second period, the Bobcats scored three unanswered goals capped by Priskie’s first goal at 16:01 of the econd period for a 4-2 lead over the Tigers.

Jackson Cressey, who scored twice for the Tigers, finished the second period scoring with a goal at 17:28 to cut the Yale lead to 4-3.

But Priskie scored at 3:20 of the third period for a 5-3 lead and Martin added an insurance goal at 12:12 for the 6-3 final

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Yale 77, Miami 73: At Miami, Fla., Miye Oni finished with at game-high 29 points to lead the Bulldogs to a non-conference road win.

Jordan Bruner added 11 points and Blake Reynolds scored 10 for Yale, which improved to 4-2.

Stony Brook 71, Quinnipiac 61: At Stony Brook, N.Y., Cameron Young led all scorers with 29 points in the Bobcats' loss.

Quinnipiac fell to 2-4.Stony Brook improved to 7-1.

SCSU 85, Adelphi 69: Isaiah McLeod and Luke Beesley each recorded double-doubles with McLeod posting a game-high 26 points and 10 rebounds while Beesley added 10 points and 12 boards to lead the Owls to their Northeast-10 Conference win at the Moore Field House in New Haven.

The duo led five Owls (3-5, 2-2) in double figures as Ulyen Coleman had 18 points and four assists, Kealan Ives had 15 points, four assists and three steals and Joey Wallace had 10 points off the bench in his season debut. Nick Cambio led the Panthers (5-3, 1-3) with 20 points and 11 re bounds.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Adelphi 63, Southern Connecticut 47: Leonie Edringer had 20 points and 12 rebounds and Niajah Morgan added 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Panthers to their Northeast-10 Conference win at the Moore Field House in New Haven.

The Panthers (5-3, 3-1) outscored the Owls 20-7 in the fourth quarter to take control of the game. Jessica Fressle led the Owls (5-2, 2-2) with 17 points and five rebounds and Kiana Steinauer added 14 rebounds and six points.

Albertus Magnus 79, New Rochelle 53: Jill Johnson contributed across the board with 23 points, six steals, four rebounds and five assists to lead the Falcons to their win in New Rochelle, N.Y. Shyla Osmond added 18 points, 11 rebounds and six steals and Emma Pierson had 12 points and eight rebounds for the Falcons (6-0).

Saint Rose 65, New Haven 53: At Albany, N.Y., Brie Pergola tied her season-high with 16 points, but the Chargers dropped this NE-10 decision.

Katia Oje and Camryn DeBose added 10 points apiece for UNH (5-3, 1-2 NE10), while Alexandria Kerr finished with 16 rebounds. Saint Rose improved to 4-3 (2-3 NE10).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Minnesota 3, Yale 1: Abigail Boreen had a goal and an assist and Alex Gulstein had 17 saves to lead the Gophers (15-2-1) to their win at Ingalls Rink in New Haven. Tabea Botthof scored for the Bulldogs (2-10) and Tera Hofman did her best to keep Yale in the game with 41 saves.

No. 10 Princeton 4, Quinnipiac 1: Sarah Fillier scored twice and Carly Bullock added a goal and an assist to lead the Tigers (7-2-3, 6-0-1) to their ECAC win in Hamden. Freshman Zoe Boyd scored her first career goal on the power play to give the Bobcats (4-10-3, 3-4-1) a 1-0 lead at 9:27 of the first period. Abbie Ives had 35 saves for the Bobcats.
