BROSHJEIT, CAROL

-

Carol A. Broshjeit, age 78, of New Haven, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Emil & Anna Knie Broshjeit. Carol was the sister of Frederick Broshjeit, aunt of Susan (Michael) Mendick, and Fred Broshjeit, and the beloved great aunt of Avery and Logan Mendick.

Carol graduated from Albertus Magnus College in 1962 and was active in her alumni association. She worked for 47 years at the West Haven Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Carol was always very proud of the fact that she was one of the original pioneers in helping to establish one of the VA’s (and nation’s) first network integrated automated laboratory environments. Up until then, laboratory results were still written by hand and manually relayed to the physicians. She was in on the ground floor performing some of the original work which led to the development of our modern-day Electronic Health Record in use today. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church and was the church’s organist for many years. Carol enjoyed travelling, especially to Germany with her great niece.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, 780 Grassy Hill Road, Orange, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to Zion Lutheran Church 780 Grassy Hill Road, Orange, CT or in honor of Carol Broshjeit, Class of 1962 Albertus Magnus College Office of Advancement, 700 Prospect Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
