Lau lifts Hopkins to victory over Brunswick
Michael Lau had 15 points and Colin Gernhardt added 10 to lead the Hopkins boys basketball team to a 48-39 win over Brunswick.
David Burton, Chris Borter and Cam Delcristo added seven points each for the Hilltoppers (4-5).
GIRLS HOCKEY
West Haven/Sacred Heart Academy 4, Hamden 1: Jianna Cohrs had two goals and an assist and Taylor Nowak added a goal and an assist to lead West Haven/ SHA to an SCC win.
Kyleen Crowe had 15 saves for West Haven/SHA. Ari Martin gave the Green Dragons a 1-0 lead at 10:30 of the first period. Kate Shapland had 33 saves for Hamden (3-4).
INDOOR TRACK
Elm City Coaches meet: At the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven, Hillhouse had a pair of individual winners in the girls competition with Ayesha Nelson winning the 55-meter dash in 7.38 seconds and Jada Boyd winning the 600 in 1:39.84. Other local individual winners were Grace Adolphe of Wilbur Cross in the 100 (3:07.88) and Kate Yuan of Amity in the triple jump (31 feet, 11 inches).
In the boys competition, there was one athlete with a pair of individual wins with Justin Forde of McMahon winning the long jump (22-2.25) and the triple jump (49-5). Locally, Wilbur Cross had three individual winners with Caleb Owen winning the 300 (37.49), Noah Lee winning the 600 (1:27.27) and Mahammed Hussain winning the 1000 (2:37.39). Neal Eley of Hillhouse won the 55 (6.68) and Deshaune Poole of Hillhouse won the 55 hurdles (7.67). Ja’Kwan Hale of Derby won the high jump (6-6).
Third James Barber Invitational: At the Moore Fieldhouse in New Haven, in the girls competition Jocelyn Wirth of Law won the 55 in 7.57 and Gianna Siciliano of Guilford won the 1600 in 5:36.59.
In the boys competition, Naheim Washington of Law won the 55 in 6.70 and Dylan Pudelka of Oxford won the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 10 inches.
